Dunar Maltese

Louise and I started showing dogs
when I was stationed at Brooks Med Center in San Antonio,
Texas. We wanted a real nice Irish Terrier (Not to be). We met
and fell in love with the Silky Terrier. Our first boy was
shown in obedience-qualified each time in three shows for his
CD. We then found a boy in New York, what a wonderful boy, full
of it. He finished his championship very quickly with a lot of
“gusto”. We had a little bitch by then, Lads daughter, named
Brandy. At six months she was in the ring and pointed and
finished at one year of age. Not my doing, hers, she only
needed me to hold the lead and she did the rest. When we were
showing our Silky you could not help but notice the Maltese.
They were always on a table at ringside so we did not know what
the temperament was like. After moving back to Sacramento
California, I received a call from a friend to see if I could
get a little Maltese in show coat. Her Name was Bridget with an
attitude of we do it my way. She was with us ten months and
left such a void. I knew I had to have a Maltese, this was in
the 80’s. We had met a lot of Maltese breeders and they helped
us learn a bit about the grooming and showing. My Silky and
Maltese get along so well together that I feel I have the best
of both worlds. It has been over 32 years now and can’t think
of a more enjoyable time then spending time with our friends in
both breeds.
